Thoughts, Reaction, Experience. Discuss! by Jon Haycock
Students were asked to take some time with their parents or guardians to answer the below questions from our all-school summer reading book. Remind them to bring the completed sheet to your Advisory class on Monday, September 9.
Connecting. Collaborating. Sharing.
Many valuable discussions often occur in isolation within the four walls of our classrooms. With Wonder being a school-wide read, lets break down those wall and open our conversations to each other. Technology can be the tool to make this happen! Start by going "public' with the conversations within your own classroom by incorporating some of these ideas:
- Padlet.com: Go Public with student comments- Padlet lets you create a virtual, collaborative bulletin board where students can post their own thoughts, comments & questions via the website on a computer or device.
- Google Docs: Upload this Word Doc into your Google Drive. Make sure you turn on the conversion settings to convert it into an editable document. (or create your a G-doc from scratch) Share with your students in groups so they can view and work on the same Google-doc. (Video Tutorial)
- Use technology to aggregate and project student responses in real-time to increase participation/discussion and then save their responses for future use. Try Socrative, PollEverywhere and Todaysmeet.
- Join the School-Wide Conversation on Padlet! For more information, click on the link found in the menu at the top of the page.
